Listen to the Music of the Falling Rain on a Lazy GA Afternoon

North GA awaits much needed heavy rains Fay is bringing but today Irv and Wanda sit under our "new" awning on this lazy Sunday afternoon smelling the fresh gentle rain as we watch (actually I... Irv is napping peacefully in his lounge chair) the drops falling on the lakes; painting a picture of time almost standing still. I can assure you time rarely stands still in GA with all there is to do and see. Just the getting there is fast! Everyone knows the rule of the road, right? Speed limit 65... OK to go 75 or push the envelope to 85 on all the big roads around Atlanta that end in "5" or GA 400... our main access road.

There is one more sound. Jack is meowing from inside the coach... "I want out!!!". Yes, sure enough Jack escaped a second time (you would think Irv and I could learn to keep a little cat inside, wouldn't you?) the other morning around 9:45am. Now we know from information given to us by our neighbor camper in MD when he escaped there, that you might as well forget catching him... just open the coach door (try to forget all the bugs getting inside) and wait. He had a great time wondering around, laying on the rugs on our patio and playing with his friend, the yellow cat. The two of them rulers in their world. From our patio we watched as Jack followed the yellow cat onto our street and both promptly plopped down to soak up the sun... the yellow cat close to the grass but on the road and the outside experienced cat, Jack right in the middle. Irv, the eternal optimist says, "I can get him there". Oh really, this could be a cartoon... just picture it! Irv is a foot away from Jack when both Jack and the yellow cat take off into the woods. Well, all good things must come to an end, At 2:45pm... Jack in an effort to taunt us further came over and scratched his neck on my chair at which point, I grabbed him. Thank the good vet for encouraging me to have her put Front Line tick and flea on my "inside" cat. Enough about our master, Jack. Let me share some fun stuff with you.

Saturday, August 16th: Did I mention our daughter, Julie gave Irv tickets to a pre-season game at the GA Dome between the Atlanta Falcons and the Indianapolis (stolen Baltimore) Colts? Thanks to Julie and the GA Dome website, we had no trouble getting there. I was worried about loosing Irv to a heart attack as we saw the first private parking lot @ $25 ($25!!!!! I kept driving as I planned to park in the GA Dome parking lot) then the next @ $40 (take an aspirin and cough to ward off the heart attack) and the last opportunity @ $60 (don't look). Whew... wonder what it's going to cost at the Dome... $10 and we got a space within a 5 minute walk to our gate. We had intended to get a bite to eat at Centennial Park close by but 2 police officers assured us there was no place to eat there... eat in the Dome, they encouraged us. We entered on level 100 and saw picnic tables where you could eat. How great! In most arena's or stadiums, you have to stand or take it to you seat. Wanda asked an attendant if there were picnic tables on level 300 (nose bleed section where our seats were) and she said, yes! Alas but NO, not one... she was mistaken (this was the first home game of the season and unfortunately, not one attendant answered a single question correctly) . So we went back to level 100 where we discovered all the food vendors were inside the ticket booths... no level 300 tickets allowed in here. Soooooo, we went back up to 300 to get our food and took it to our seats in Row 26... the last row at the top of the Dome with our backs to the concrete. Even though we couldn't see the numbers on the jerseys or faces, the seats were on the 45 yards line and the best we ever had to see all the action. Also there wasn't anyone on the row in front so we had a great view. Now as many of you know, I am very passionate about my football and had to make a hard choice... root for the Falcons (no) or the Colts whose owner is on my bad list for stealing them out of Baltimore in the middle of the night. Well, I do like the Colt coach and Peyton Manning, the quarterback who didn't play but still. Without thinking when a Colt defensive player intercepted a pass and run in for a touchdown... I jumped to my feet shouting run, run, run... never giving a second thought to the fact that I could be thrown from my high and lofty seat to the playing field by a Falcon's fan. One fan did give me a look and I was able to contain myself accept for one more outburst close to the end of the game. I really didn't want to get confronted in the parking lot. Football fans are very loyal!!! We had a great time and it only took us an hour to get out of Atlanta then half an hour home (it should have been a 45 minute trip). Next time we plan to take MARTA (the Atlanta subway system). Our plan is to take a ride downtown and play tourist by touring the Dome, CNN and Centennial Park... find some good restaurants. We would like to go to another game. You can get these tickets through Stubhub.com for $24 each for a (can you believe it) $65 face value seat on Level 300, row 26. Any higher and we would have been hanging on one of the cables supporting the Dome.

Saturday, August 23rd: Have you seen the commercial on TV that inform you that by singing you add 15+ years to your life, laughing 8+ years and I forget the others but I'll watch and share the info with you later. I mentioned this to Irv last night on the way home from my sister-in-love, Lucretia's home. We were invited for dinner along with another couple who were delightful and the 6 of us laughed all evening. It was great! As for singing... I love to sing and have confessed my childhood dream to be a County music singer which may still happen; it's never to late... never give up your dreams! As I mentioned Irv and I found a church close by we love more every time we attend and boy, do they love to sing... a lot! Oh, did I mention that they feed us also. Not as much as "The Keys Vineyard" in Big Pine, FL but enough. Sunday morning services begin at 10:30am and last until between 12:15 and 12:30pm with at least 1/2 that time singing. We love the sermons and this morning for the first time in my life, we witnessed a human video. Teenagers voice synced a song as they acted out the words. It was very inspiring. The pastor has only been at the church for a year and is so dynamic. Irv, speaking as a phophet said, "God will grow this church with Pastor Jason to the size of Joel Osteen's church in Houstin, Texas (75,000 members). Seriously, Jason's sermons are inspiring... this morning "Take risks with Compassion". God never failed one person of faith in the Bible. They asked for help teaching the 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School class who had 17 children this morning with one teacher. This in a church of 150+/-. We are so blessed... so many good churches Cam and Grace's, Julie's, Lucretia's, Christ Community Church we attend and... at Grace Community Church, they are beginning a series on Thursday nights of Beth Moore's bible study series. You know God always puts you in the right place at the right time. It was announced last Sunday that a couple's daughter-in-law had breast cancer so I gave my card to the pastor's wife, Tiffany and told her to have them call me if they wished because my daughter-in-law was a breast cancer expert
