As I begin writing at our son, Michael's breakfast room table looking out his bay window at (you guessed it) the trees", I have to tell you again how beautiful it is here.
When I last wrote, Irv, Jack and Wanda were in the beginnings of our grief over the loss of Susie. Saturday Wanda and Irv went over to "Good Mews" to donate Susie's food and look at kitties. Wonderful place, a kitty paradise... wonderful kitties that are all so sweet but we are not ready to select one and make that committment. Wanda and Irv are enjoying and watching Jack very carefully to make sure he eats (a sign he doesn't have the bacteria that caused Susie's death). Jack misses Susie. It shows on his sad face, talking more and staying close to us but overall he is doing well. In fact eating more than ever.
Tuesday, July 1st: Update on Awning: It is an experience finding where stores are located, new doctors and "contractors". We had three RV Rep air contractors out to give estimates to replace and/or repair the awning. Our fabulous insurance adjuster came Tuesday to declare the awning a total loss, give us a check and say, "Get'er done". Our chosen contractor came out Wednesday, took the awning away and ordered a new one. We should be under our new awning by end of business Tuesday, July 8th. Wanda looks forward to having one area where she doesn't have to sweep every two hours to rid the rugs of pine needles and cones. Not complaining, the pines look and smell so good!
Thursday, July 3rd: We were so pleased with the contractor who came to our site and washed the RV that we had him back this morning to wash and detail the PT Cruiser. Since we left MD the Cruiser has been our pulled U-HAUL vehicle that became riddled with Coral Dust from the Keys. I planned to have it detailed but Grace made the comment, "What dirty seats" when we picked her up from school. From the mouth of a babe! Again, what a great job and great person. As he was working so was Wanda... packing up to move to Michael's house for the July 4th weekend to watch his dogs. Before Wanda was a kitty person, she was a dog person and these are fun dogs. So... here we (Irv, Wanda and Jack) are with all it's blessings. For Jack, there are windows everywhere to see new things and a great glass door where he can safely look at the dogs to his hearts content as they bark at him from outside the door. Wanda and Irv are enjoying Michael's 52" Flat Screen HD TV.
We are learning our way around with the help our Lindy (Grace's name for our GPS). We know there is a Super Wal-mart every 10 miles. Irv just came from one where he got his buzz cut, Ugh! Sharon and Arno had Lucas beautiful hair cut offf with a buzz cut. What is it, something in the water?
Kelly and Emily's father has a catering business that operates out of the Second Baptist Church (huge with a state of the art progessional kitchen). They require him to cater affairs at the church for a fee, of course. Yesterday He with his employee along with Kelly and Emily catered a Pasta buffet for 600 who were affiliated with the big Peachtree Road Race (new to me). Wanda got the opportunity to see it this morning on the local channel. It is a 5 mile road race through the streets of Atlanta. There were ordinary runners who were able to get a number to participate but also Olympic quality runners... men, women and wheel chair runners.
Wow, time to get ready for our 4th of July visit to Lake Arrowhead which is an hour+/- north on I-75 from Marietta, Julie's house. We'll join Julie at her house and she'll drive us to the lake. There will be boating, swimming, sports, FOOD and fireworks. Of course, we forgot our camera so hopefully Julie will take pictures for us.
There is a song Wanda sang in church years ago, Count Your Blessings. It goes, "Count your blessings, name them one by one; count your many blessings and see what God has done".
