Getting Setttled

Saturday, June 21st... Yesterday we picked up our coach from the repair shop and delivered it to our temporary site at Twin Lakes. TODAY we moved home to our coach! The Kitties are very happy. We are right on the lake adjacent to a porch swing. Irv and I took a walk on the grassy causeway separating the "Twin Lakes" and relaxed on the porch swing under the weeping willow tree as we looked back across the still lake except for the "fish a-jumping" at our coach. Sunday, June 22nd: First day of the week... First visit to New Hope Covenant Church with Cam and Grace. Cam had told everyone to expect us so the red carpet was rolled out. It's a very small congregation that has wonderful plans for reaching our and growing. After church Cam and Grace took us to lunch... then Irv was in for a treat! In MD the closest Camping World store is 90 miles away but here it is so close... only 25 miles. We made a trip over after church to make a return but... on the way Irv got to see Stone Mountain which is the largest outcropping of granite in the US I know and maybe the world. I didn't realize he had never seen it. While in high school, many Saturday night dates were spent going out to Stone Mountain and climbing around on the rocks. There was a hermit who lived on top and was fully equiped to rescue the crazy ones who tried to climb the mountain and got stuck as they always did. Way back then, 50 years ago Stone Mountain was a town with one country general store and 2 gas pumps. Now it is a huge park... http://www.stonemountainpark.com/. I promised Irv to take him there soon.

Tuesday, June 24th: We move to our permanent site. What a beauty! Huge site with a 11x22 patio with a railing overlooking the lake. Sweet! Parking for four cars.

Wednesday, June 25th: Sit down, you won't believe it! Irv and I put the awning down and... got the DirectTV dish working without as he says, "killing each other". Of course, we were on the phone with DirecTV for an hour and a half but when I hung up we weren't working. Irv did it! What a guy!

Grace: We are blessed to be able to spend so much time with Grace and also that she has come to love us as we her... especially her Grandpa Irv. One day she had a friend over and they were playing upstairs. When Irv returned from an errand... Grace shouted to her friend, "My Grandpa's here, I have to go see him". Yesterday, she told him, "We have a hammock in the backyard. You'll like laying in it with me". I on the other hand get the opportunity to discipline. She told her Mom, "Grandy Wanda told me she'll give me a ticket every time I run through the house and if I get three... I go to jail in a chair for a long time". But, I decided a better method might be something I read in a book about "Blessing/praying for your children when they need discipline so... again Grace had a friend over so I asked the friend to excuse us then asked Grace to choose... a ticket or a blessing. She chose the blessing so I pulled her close and prayed for her. I returned to Cam's basement office where we were working and we heard the girls through the monitor. Grace had gone upstairs and said to Alexis, "My Grandy Wanda just prayed a blessing for me so now I need to pray for you and... she did". Cam and I couldn't believe it.

Cracker Barrel: You'll be relieved to know that on our way from Cam's to our campground, when we have to stop at Home Depot or Walmart... we get to eat at the Cracker Barrel at the same exit off Route 400. I know you were concerned since I hadn't mentioned it for a while.

Sad News: We noticed when we brought the kitties to the coach on Saturday that Susie wasn't eating... at all. So we tried to tempt her with all kinds of different ways to fix her food and... different foods. I called the Vet on Monday and got an appointment for Wednesday. FYI, cats are not like dogs who will finally eat when they get hungry. It turns out that Susie had a bacterial infection in her blood, the Feline Herpes Virus had return probably due to her immune system being low from the infection and because she wasn't eating due to this... her liver was becoming fatty and shutting down. She was critical! The Vet did blood work and test, kept her overnight but Thursday morning, we had to put her to sleep. This Vet was wonderful. I got to hold her and Irv pet her for a long time then she got a sedative shot so we were able to hold her even through her death. You know, my Mother did not like animals to touch her. She grew up in the country where the animals cats and dogs lived outside but I know she will take care of Susie for us up in heaven. The Vet told us to tell Jack all about Susie. He won't understand the words but will understand our tone of voice. He'll miss her like us and will probably spend more time with us... just bring him to the Vet the minute he stops eating if he does. It was not recommended that we get another kitty to keep him company just yet. It was a hard thing and continues to be. She was such a sweet girl.

Julie, Kelly and Emily: On a happier note. Our daughter, Julie and her girls are coming over after church on Sunday for lunch and what's best... they're bring lunch. We've only gotten to spend two days with them since we've been in GA so we are really looking forward to it. There is supposed to be T-Storms but I wasn't worried becuase we can just move under the awning... right, not any more! Last night we had a huge T-storms with high winds which got up under our awning and sent the awning and poles over the top of the coach so... Who cares... we'll be with them. Next call... the insurance company.

We have a big day planned, part of which is taking Susie's food over to a shelter called "The Mews" to donate it. They have a lot of great kitties so who knows!

Goodness, it's 8:48am already... as John Wayne would say, I'm burning daylight so better close for now. I'm downloading some pictures today, God willing so you can see this paradise where we live.
