A whole new life

Wednesday, June 4th: Dear God, Just get this coach and car to Atlanta!!! Irv and Wanda arrive safely and with a prayer of thanks parked the coach after which we had a joyful reunion with Michael, Cam and little Grace (4 1/2 years old) who took us out to dinner at the Cracker Barrel.

Thursday, June 5th: As my Mother, Jessie would say, "no rest for the wicked". That would be me. Wanda contacted the RV repair shop and made arrangements to take the coach up so they could order the parts for the hitch and set a time for the repair on Thursday, June 19th.

Born in Cedartown, GA and raised in Atlanta, Wanda never imagined God would bring her back to GA but her mother, Jessie used to quote the Bible verse... Train up a child in the way he/she should go and in their old age they will not depart from it. My mother told my father before she married him that she would never leave GA to live in his home of Chicago or anywhere else... but they moved to MD in 1970 to raise their grandchildren until they went home to be with their Lord or as the Indians say and I love, "Passed over the river". Isn't that a beautiful picture? Ah, but as our pastor in Big Pine Key (check out their website at http://www.keysvineyard.com/) used to say, "I got off on a bunny trail (off the subject)". Now Wanda has come back to her roots and it feel good and peaceful. It's all new to Irv and he gets excited about seeing a mound of red clay at a construction site. Vernon, ask Vera to sing about Red Clay at the Blue Grass jam session on Friday nights in Prince Frederick, MD and think of us.

So below is the scoop on how it all happened... can you believe it?

Friday, June 6th: A Whole new life... a friend asked Irv on Father's Day, "Didn't you like your old life?" to which Irv replied, "Yes, but a new life is such an adventure"!

On the way to dinner Wednesday, the 4th, we noticed a campground sign on GA 400 (limited access road by Michael and Cam. People in GA call all such roads "the highway"... just a little local culture). Friday morning over coffee, Cam asked for Wanda and Irv to stay in GA. What! We can't do that! Oh, yes you can! Wanda seeking God's will in the matter "put out a fleece" as did Gideon in the Bible. OK, knowing it couldn't be... if the monthly rate is less than Take It Easy Campground in MD, that will be the first sign of God's will but... the next step is asking Irv what he thinks. He'll never agree to move away from his VA Doctors in MD. Well, his response to the questions was... "I've lived in MD all my life and I love Atlanta. Let's do it!" Immediately Michael said he would pay Irv to help him work on his house a couple of days a week. That should keep him busy along with being the family gardener for our daughter, Julie. After Wanda and Irv left to go visit Julie, and our granddaughters, Kelly and Emily, Michael asked Cam how she would feel about hiring Wanda to help them with their business. She was thrilled! Their business is creating Breast Care Centers, recruiting doctors and personnel... they do it all from breaking ground to grand opening and follow up. It's a dream job! Helping our children build their business and sharing the care of a granddaughter... with pay! Plus being taken out to dinner at Cracker Barrel. By the way, we haven't won the $250,000 prize from Cracker Barrel yet. The contest goes through July 28th and our chances are 27,518,000 but you never know.

Making this move required a flying trip to MD to pick up our boxes of personal files from our friend, Nancy's basement, mail from Take It Easy, doctor's records plus visiting our Washington, DC Teems children and Owings Mills Gershowitz children and grandchildren for the last time for a long while. Ben Gershowitz invited us for Father's Day to a Crab Feast which we appreciated because it'll be a while before we get crabs again. Wanda made the mistake of ordering a crab cake in the Keys... bad mistake!

After a 12 hour drive each way, we are safely back in GA, the coach is in the shop and we have arranged a beautiful campsite with woods behind and the lake in front of us. Oh, it's so beautiful! Check out http://www.twinlakes-rvpark.com/. Out site is on the left side corner of Ridgewood Drive facing the lake (site looks crooked). It's huge with a picnic table and porch swing on our lawn. We move in Saturday, God willing if the coach work is done.

Now we are also full circle. Wanda's parents came to MD to raise the grandchildren... now Wanda and Irv get to be around from 4 1/2 year old Grace, 16 year old Emily and 20 year old Kelly.

Stay tuned for news GA Tech and University of GA football games, Wheeler High School Friday night football and state champion basketball and anything goes with a pre-schooler including the big swin.

Kelly says I have to root for GA even though my heart is with GA Tech because that's where we're spending the money!

Stay tuned and thanks for reading such a long epistle
